Readable books, shared with care
Borrowed exists to share stories, knowledge, ideas, and books that would otherwise sit unread on shelves. The goal is not to keep every book untouched forever. The goal is to let books travel, be read, and come home with reasonable care.

Borrowed is a peer-to-peer physical book lending platform. Borrowed helps members share books with each other, but Borrowed does not own those books, personally inspect every copy, or guarantee the exact condition in which a book will be returned.
A borrowed book may come back showing signs that someone actually read it. That is usually part of sharing.
Deposit claims and serious disputes should be reserved for issues that materially change whether the book can be read and enjoyed.
Do not list rare, precious, sentimental, pristine, signed, collectible, or irreplaceable books unless you accept the risk. If a cracked spine would deeply upset you, that specific copy may not be right for Borrowed. Borrowed is not a museum or preservation service.
During the MVP/private beta, payment and deposit systems may still be simulated or manually administered. Borrowed cannot promise automatic compensation for every issue, and the Library Protection Deposit is not insurance. Disputes may lead to admin review, warnings, account restrictions, suspension, or banning.
The best protection is thoughtful lending: list books you are comfortable sharing, describe their condition honestly, use Handover Notes and Return Notes, and keep expectations human.
